This view is roughly southeast. Maybe it’s from Mt. Bonnell, or one of the other tall hills to the west of the city? The tallest building is the Austonian, a condo high-rise, and the Frost Bank tower (smaller, prickly-looking) is to the left. The State Capitol is probably just outside the frame further left. The plume is from the Bastrop Co. fires, about 30 minutes away, depending on how fast you drive and the amount of traffic.
