Me: (Waiting in line to buy gum, slowly becoming aware of the conversation behind me.)
She: We saw that movie too, we were so confused!
He: I fell asleep during it!
He2: All I could figure was, Colin Firth won the Oscar so he must be someone important in it.
He: Well, he *was* the bad guy...
She: I guess so...
Them: (Crosstalk)
She: But that Cumberbock guy was pretty hot stuff.
He2: Gary Oldman?
She: No, the younger one...

So I used to look down my nose at my female friends who were besotted with Colin Firth (aka “Mr. Darcy”), but after watching A Single Man last night, my resolve is quickly weakening.

I want people who have never seen or heard anything about A Single Man to tell me what they think the movie is about based ONLY ON THIS PHOTO.

Really should’ve been last year for A Single Man too, but I guess a stuttering royal is much tastier Academy catnip than a bereaved gay professor.

That said, well done, Mr Firth; he really was good in The King’s Speech, and he looks adorably happy here. Also, please tell me that 1) he did dance once he got off stage and 2) there is video of this event.
